　　careless:adj. 粗心的;无忧无虑的;淡漠的;马马虎虎的;毛手毛脚的

　　The teacher let that careless student off and didn't fail him. 老师放过了那个粗心的学生，没给他打不及格。

　　It was careless of you to leave the door unlocked.你没锁门，太粗心了。

　　She's careless about her clothes她对穿着一点都不讲究。

　　When we were young, (we) had the world by the tail, good would prevail, starships wouldsail我们年少时，仿佛世界在握，以 为正义必胜，飞船也必将遨游太空

　　这句话里面的have the world by the tail指的是‘抓住了世界的尾巴’‘掌控全场’

　　Her dress made a splash at the party, so she felt she had the world by the tail.她的晚礼服在晚会上造成了轰动，她觉得非常得意

　　Now he feels that he has the world by the tail. 他现在觉得一切都在自己的掌控之中。good wouldprevail，这句话前面省掉了the,the good指的是一切美好的人或者物。prevail是动词，vi.‘盛行，流行，占上风’的意思，例如

　　：Will such views prevail?这样的见解会占上风么?

　　And (we were)bound by the heavens above我们被抬头可见的天空所禁锢

　　be bound by：受…约束

　　A lot of young people say they won’t be bound by ‘boys having to wear this or girls wearingthat'. 很多年轻人说他们不愿意‘被男生该怎样穿、女生该怎样穿’之类的教条所束缚。

　　这句歌词是意译。短语be drawn to sth / sb是‘为...所吸引;为...而着迷’的意思。来看几个例句:

　　The girl was drawn to the cartoon.那个小姑娘被动画片吸引过去了。

　　The man was so genial, so I was drawn to him at once.这人这么和蔼，我立刻为他着迷。

　　And we tried to survive travelling at the speed of love我们竭尽全力在转瞬即逝的懵懂爱情之伤中幸存了下来。

　　这句话也是比较抽象，在这里用了比喻。年轻之时，总是很容被爱情所伤。这里面的survive是‘存活;幸存’的意思。那survive sth表示的是

　　glorious，adj. 光荣的;辉煌的;极好的;dawn，黎明;开端;await,后面直接加宾语，vt. 是‘等候，等待;期待’。我们来分别看一下这 几个词在句子中的使用。glorious:She is always bucking about herglorious past.她老是吹嘘她辉煌的过去。dawn: We must get up at dawn.我们必须天一亮就起来。await:A hearty welcome awaits you.你将受到热烈的欢迎。
