　　throw up：抬起，举起

　　e.g. He was shocked to throw up his hands at the sight of the accident.

　　一见到事故现场，惊吓得把手都举起来了。

　　a trifle：稍微，有点儿

　　e.g. She seemed a trifle anxious.

　　她似乎有点儿焦急。

　　e.g. The wine has made him a trifle tipsy.

　　这酒喝得他有点醉意了。

　　stumble across：偶尔发现

　　e.g. If you stumble across the book, keep it for me.

　　如果你碰巧看到那本书，就给我留下。

　　e.g. You never knew when you might stumble across some new talent.

　　谁也说不准什么时候会碰上一位新的天才。

　　come over：过来

　　e.g. You really must come over sometime and have dinner with us.

　　你确实应该找个时间过来，跟我们一起吃顿饭。

　　e.g. Why don"t you come over to our place one evening?

　　你何不找个晚上到我们这里来坐坐?

　　more or less：或多或少，有点儿，大约

　　e.g. The content of the two articles is more or less the same.

　　两篇文章内容雷同。

　　e.g. I suspect that he is more or less involved in the affair.

　　我猜他和这件事有点牵连。

　　e.g. I've more or less finished reading the book.

　　我差不多已经把这本书全看完了。

　　e.g. These food markets have more or less the same setup.

　　几个菜市场的格局差不多。

　　rows and rows of ：一排排的

　　There were rows and rows of socks and tights at the shop.

　　商店里有一排排的短袜和紧身衣。

　　chasten oneself with：用......警戒自己

　　e.g. We should chasten ourselves with some mottoes written by great men.

　　我们应该时时用名人的座右铭来警戒自己。
