　　We all have those confidence — surging songs welisten to before a big event. Now researchers saythat the lyrics are not necessarily what make us feeldominant—it's the booming bass. That's accordingto a study in the journalSocial Psychology andPersonality Science.

　　在某件大事发生之前，我们都爱听一些使自己信心高涨的歌曲。据《心理学与人格科学》杂志研究报道，如今研究人员发现：让我们感觉自信满满的不一定是歌词，但一定是重浊宽厚的低音。

　　Certain types of music, such as heavy metal and hip-hop, make people feel powerful andaggressive. To find out why, researchers had people listen to dozens of songs. Then theyasked how powerful the participants felt while listening. Topping the list for imbuing a sense ofstrength: Queen's anthem "We Will Rock You." At the bottom? Baha Men's questioning "WhoLet the Dogs Out?".

　　有些音乐使人震撼，听了积极向上，如重金属摇滚音乐和嘻哈舞曲。为找出个中原因，研究人员安排了一些人听歌曲。他们一边让参与者听音乐，一边询问音乐的震撼力如何。结果显示，那些气势磅礴的歌曲位居榜首：如皇后乐队的颂歌《我们将震撼你》;反之，位列榜尾的是：巴哈马乐团的《是谁放的狗》。

　　The researchers then had subjects listen to the songs and do some tests. In one, thevolunteers were told they could win money if they predicted the outcome of a die roll, eitherby a third-party or themselves. Even though the outcome would be random in either case,those who had listened to bass-heavy music were more likely to want to be the one to roll thedie.

　　In other tests, participants listening to bass — heavy music picked more powerful words whendoing word exercises and were more likely to want to go first in debates. So, if you want apower boost , try just pumping up the bass.

　　其他测试显示，那些听着重低音做文字练习的参与者选择的措辞更有力，且更希望在辩论中首当其冲。因此，当你想激发自己力量的时候，增强低音即可。
